Geothermal Power:

In 2010, the United States led the world in geothermal electricity production with 3,086 MW of installed capacity from 77 power plants;[1]. UWUA members provide this renewable energy resource to America in its capacity today.

Geothermal energy is created by using very hot temperatures that can only come from underground such as hot springs, oil wells or even magma conduits. There are several types of geothermal power stations, each requires a different fluid temperature to create energy to turn the turbines of the plants.

Types of Geothermal Power Plants:

  • Flash Steam Power Plants
  • Dry Steam Power Plants
  • Binary Cycle Power Plants
